A Bit About Me & How to Contact Me

Rotem CohenMy name is Rotem Cohen. I’m in my 30′s, and I live in Eilat, Israel with my wife Ronit and our two young sons.

I’m a life coach and a recovered ‘sleep addict’… :-)

For most of my life I used to oversleep pretty often. Ten hours sleep was normal for me, and sometimes I slept up to 14 hours a “night”. I couldn’t control myself!

During years of struggle I tried various ways to reduce sleep and increase my energy level, from annoying alarm clocks to mantras and meditation…

I’ve done so much research that I’ve become an (uncertified) expert in the areas of sleep, energy and motivation…

These days I wake up easily at 5:00AM (even on days off!) and I have more energy than I’ve ever had.

A-Sleep! was my first website. I started it in 2006, to share some of the information and resources that helped me overcome of my oversleeping problem.

A couple of years later I started Energy & Motivation, which is my main focus since then. It’s all about helping you become highly energetic self motivated.

In case you were wondering about my relationship with the products that I recommend, let me make this clear…

I buy information products online quite often, mainly in the ‘self-help’ area. Products that I like and find helpful, I sometimes recommend to others. Some publishers pay commissions for referred sales, so I earn a commission whenever someone buys through my link.

Please feel free to contact me with any comment, questions or suggestion…

heyy bro, really need to knw if JAUNDICE causes this oversleeping and day to day tiredness?? It was JAUNDICE which i had born with and i would like to knw if that is the problem…THANKS!!!!

    • Rotem Cohen says:

Shasri, from my limited knowledge about it, Jaundice is not a disease, but a symptom that can indicate on various medical conditions. Since I’m not a doctor, you may want to ask one (form on the right sidebar). Either way, I’m sure that following some of the basic guidelines I talk about (eating well, exercising, reducing stress etc) wouldn’t hurt.

…It’s Mike again, the 39 y.o. male who recently posted a question. Here’s more info. to help u all answer my question:

I haven’t gone to my gym which I recently joined because of my 13 to 14 hour sleep schedule. I personally think it’s fear of people. I have been shy since as long as I can remember. I have been without a girlfriend for a very long time. I just don’t think there’s a strong enough reason for me to wake up & I’m afraid of people deep down in my subconscious to go to & finally work out consistently at my gym.

What can I do, to reprogram my subconscious to wake up at 5, 6, 7, 8 am after at least 8 hours of sleep and go to my gym & work out?

I fear the crowds, the gorgeous women, and the awkwardness of standing around waiting for exercise equipment while someone’s using it at my gym. Although I have only worked out 1x at my gym since joining it for a week so I haven’t seen the gym busy, but I just picture in my mind–all the equipment being used & I dread looking awkward & nervous in front of people.

    thanks, again.

I am a 39 year old male who quit cigarettes smoking for 2 weeks.

I’m not taking any nicotene replacement therapy. Im just drinking lots of tea & coffee because it’s now my only vice. I have a history of Depression & Anxiety. I haven’t taken Paxil my anti-depressant for a couple of months.

I have a gym membership and am on social security disability. I recently moved to a new place from another part of San Diego to a different part of San Diego. Instead of exploring my new neighborhood. I have got into the habit of sleeping at 3 am and awaking at 3 pm for the last week.

I find comfort in sleeping a lot. I find that sleeping stops the craving for cigarettes. What’s the main thing I should do, Mr. Cohen, to be able to go to sleep at normal times and awake at normal times?

Thank you any help from you or others with experience/knowledge would be really appreciated.

  4. Sydney says:

My boyfriend does not have a normal sleep schedule. He stays up all nite and goes to bed around 9am to 11am and sleeps to 9pm to 1am the next day he can never get up to do things in the middle of the day cause of his sleepin scheduel and he is impossible to wake up we have tried every thing to get him to wake up and get back on track but nothing works soo please help me get him on a normal sleepin sceduel

    • Rotem Cohen says:

Sydney, a few questions come to mind… (like “has he had a night shift job until sometime ago?”).

But anyway, nothing is going to change before your boyfriend decides and commits to doing what it takes. You can’t “get him on a normal schedule”. It’s HIM who has to do it. Makes sense?

When you BF comes here (or to another blog or forum etc), tells the story and asks questions, that would be a sign that he might be ready to change.

  5. Shilpa says:

hi, i am 27 yr suffering from obcessive compulsive disorder, under medication of clomipramine, i sleep for 12-13 hrs n snore very bad, yet yawn the whole day. plz help.

    Regards.

    • Rotem Cohen says:

Shilpa, I’m not a doctor and I know very little about OCD and so on. I can only say that most (adult) people feel tired after sleeping too much. That’s just how it is.

Also – a common side effect of many medications is tiredness and sleep problems (though I don’t know specifically about the one you’re taking). Have you asked your doctor about it?

If you’re serious about changing you situation you’d probably have to start changing some of your habits and lifestyle. Start by doing whatever you can to reduce sleep gradually. Maybe reduce about half an hour per week.

Maybe you’d like to tell me more?

    • Rotem Cohen says:

Dear Amit, I am not a doctor and I don’t even know what all those pills are. Personally, I’d say you should find out if you can get rid of all (or at least some of) those medication that are probably messing up your system, and deal with your mental/ emotional problems in other ways.

  10. NAVIN says:

i am navin alies rajesh. i take drinks and smoke often.i go to bed around 12-1am. and get up around 9am. after having lunch,i cant control my sleep,so i sleep for 3hrs in afternoon.then after getting in evening,i am over active .i am also taking pschological course for 1year.taking 3 tablets in nite.

    • Rotem Cohen says:

Well, Rajesh, you have some bad habits that you need to get rid of if you want to sleep less and have more energy (drinking, smoking). I bet you don’t exercise, eat junk food, and sit home feeling sorry for yourself most of the time… don’t you?

(You take 3 tablets of what? And what do you mean by “psychological course”?)
