Better Sleep TipsHow to Get More Energy from Your SleepGetting high quality sleep every night is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. Besides improving your health, you'd able to wake up more refreshed, and enjoy a high level of energy throughout the day. Here are a few things you can do to get more rest from your sleep... Stick to a schedule Go to sleep and to wake up at the same times every day, even on weekends! Expose your eyes to sunlight as much as you can Sunlight helps your 'inner sleep clock' reset itself each day. Do your best to spend time outdoors, and take your sunglasses off when you don't really need them. (If you work the night shift and sleep in the morning, try to avoid or reduce your exposure to sunlight before you go to sleep). Increase your physical activity during the day and avoid day naps The more active your body during the day, the more likely you are to relax at night, fall asleep faster, and sleep "deeper". Avoid stimulants, like Caffeine, Alcohol and Nicotine The effect of such stimulants lasts a lot longer than you may think, and can severely damage the quality of your sleep. (The fact that you're able to fall asleep is irrelevant). Caffeine is present not only in coffee, but also in tea, most soft drinks, and even in chocolate. Its effect may last up to SEVEN HOURS. Smoking and drinking (alcohol) both disturb the sleep cycles and may also cause snoring (new window) which can have some devastating effects. Start relaxing yourself at least a couple of hours before sleep Avoid stimulants and stressful situation, dim the lights, read a book, take a warm bath, and even do some deep breathing and relaxation exercises. Prepare your stomach for sleep Have a light snack before bed time, but not a heavy meal. Prepare your bedroom for sleep Keep it clean, tidy, comfortable, and of course - quiet. Change the sheets often, dust regularly. Use the bedroom only for sleep (and sex), and take anything that is unnecessary out of it. (Start with the TV if it's there). If you work shifts, or live in a noisy neighborhood, you can try playing some soft music, or simply turning on an air fan to "mask" the noise. You may also try a "white noise" machine. (You can find one at Dream Essentials, along with more unique accessories for better sleep.) If suffer from tiredness or any kind of sleeping problem, and if you would like to be more energetic...
