| Trouble Waking UpWhy You Wake Up So Tired and How to Wake Up Refreshed and On TimeWaking up used to be the hardest task for me, everyday. I used to hit the snooze button, sometimes for hours, just to finally get out of bed heavy and drowsy...Today I wake up refreshed and on time, sometimes even before the alarm! I assure you, you CAN wake up on time everyday, refreshed and energized. There are two kinds of problems when it comes to waking up... (I've had both) Waking Up TiredYou wake up by the alarm, but can barely open your eyes...and in a GOOD day, you manage to get yourself out of bed, but you're feeling like a zombie...Most chances are that you wake up so tired, either because you're not getting enough sleep, or because you don't sleep well enough. If you sleep 7-8 hours and still wake up tired, you're probably getting poor sleep. You may be suffering from a physical sleep disorder (If you snore heavily or wake up sweating or with headaches, you may have Sleep Apnea). However... It's more likely that your sleep is damaged by stress, or by bad habits and outside conditions, such as shift work, poor nutrition or a noisy environment. How to Wake Up More RefreshedYou can wake up refreshed and full of energy, by optimizing your sleep.I won't get into sleep optimization here, though. Instead I'll give you a quick TIP that you can start applying TODAY, to wake up more refreshed... Even if you get enough quality sleep, you may wake up tired - if you wake up in the middle of a 'Sleep Cycle'. Have you heard of those? If you haven't, never mind for now... The point is that the worst time to wake up is while you are in 'deep sleep'. By the way, if sometimes you don't even HEAR the alarm, it's probably because you're in deep sleep when goes off. In order to avoid that you can experiment. Move the time you go to sleep and the time you wake up 20-40 minutes sooner or later until you find the best bedtime and rising time. Of course, in order to be able to do that, you'd have to stick to a steady sleep and wakeup schedule, which is one of the most crucial steps towards optimizing your sleep. Failing to Wake Up On Time ('Oversleeping')Waking up tired is one thing, but If you fail to wake up and oversleep often, it's another story...You see, most people would get themselves out of bed on time, even after a short and un-refreshing sleep. If you oversleep, you may have to admit having some kind of 'mind barriers' that are keeping you in bed... In other words - you're using bed as an escape from reality... Going back to bed after you woke up by the alarm clock (or ignoring it. or hitting the snooze...) might give you a sense of power, an illusion of freedom...:-) How to Wake Up On TimeIt's natural to feel tired and "heavy" when you wake-up. The challenge is to overcome the temptation to surrender to that feeling. It's mainly a matter of self-discipline, which comes from motivation. You have to give yourself a good enough REASON to get out of bed. You have to persuade yourself that you WANT to get up at a certain time, and also think of a good reason WHY. Instead of thinking "I have to get up" Think "I want to get up becauseā¦" You should "burn" it into your subconscious. If simple self-talk doesn't work for you, try one of these:
